On the occasion of the Centenary of YSS, many public talks were organized at various places throughout India.
Bengaluru and Hubli, Karnataka
Swami Shraddhananda delivered a talk on Meditation—An Antidote for Stress, Fear, and Worry at Sasken Communication Technologies Limited, a multinational software firm located in Bengaluru, on August 11, 2017. Swamiji explained that when we meditate our mind becomes tranquil and joyous, which has a tremendous impact in our attitudes and behaviour. We become relaxed, courageous, and optimistic. The talk was followed by a guided meditation and Gurudeva’s visualization technique. More than 100 people attended the talk. Swamiji also gave this talk at Hubli on August 4, 2017, in which around 200 people attended.
Puducherry, Tamil Nadu
On August 27, 2017, during a public event at Puducherry, Swami Suddhananda spoke on How to Live Happily in Today’s Stressful Environment. Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, Smt. Kiran Bedi, was invited as chief guest for the occasion. In her speech, the Lt. Governor expressed her joy to be part of the YSS Centenary Celebrations. She encouraged everyone to be grateful to God, because without gratitude one cannot have a joyful attitude. The event was well covered by local newspapers and media and was attended by around 600 people.
Madurai and Vellore, Tamil Nadu
Swami Suddhananda gave a public talk at Madurai on the evening of July 20, 2017, as part of his three-day monastic tour. Around 500 people attended this talk which was well publicized through newspaper advertisements and banners. Afterwards, Swamiji disbursed prizes to students who had scored highest marks in an examination based on Paramahansa Yoganandaji’s book The Law of Success, conducted prior to the function. A similar public event was organized at Vellore on July 13, 2017, which was attended by 300 people.
